About The Position

As a Parent Partner for California MENTOR Family Support Services, part of the Sevita family, you will guide individuals by drawing on your prior personal experience as a parent or guardian of a child who has been involved in the care system. You will work with clinical staff and supervisors to support participants and families. The position is full time, 40 hours per week, and is described as temporary to permanent. The annual salary is $49,000, including salary plus overtime.

Services are provided in homes and communities, with flexibility in scheduling. The role includes supporting parents and caregivers, advocating and coordinating across families and service providers, participating in team and review meetings, facilitating counseling groups, and maintaining documentation.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Prior personal experience as a parent or legal guardian of a child who has been involved with the system, such as DCFS, probation, Regional Center, or the Department of Mental Health.
• Probation and/or DCFS case must have been closed for a minimum of one year.
• Valid driver license held for at least one year.
• Reliable transportation with registration and insurance.

Nice To Haves

• Two years of experience in a mental health setting is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Guide parents and caregivers whose children are being served through the system, sharing and relating personal prior experience.
• Provide advocacy and liaison services among families, children, clinicians, treatment staff, community agencies, and services.
• Participate as a member of the Child and Family Team (CFT), and attend trainings, court review hearings, IEP meetings, and other meetings.
• Assist parents and caregivers in raising and discussing difficult issues.
• Lead or co-lead individual and parent counseling groups, providing education, consultation, or other needed services.
• Complete documentation and record-keeping.
• Provide services in the home and community.
