About The Position

Academies of Math and Science (AMS) is hiring a paraprofessional (teacher’s assistant) for the 2026–2027 school year at its Prince Road location in Tucson, Arizona. AMS is an academically advanced charter school network serving predominantly low-income students. The paraprofessional works alongside teachers to guide students through an advanced curriculum, support classroom instruction, and occasionally substitute for teachers when needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent and passing score on the paraprofessional exam, or an associate degree or higher.
• Prior experience working with children in a school setting.
• Ability to obtain a Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and support campus-wide activities, including lunch, recess, arrival, and dismissal, to ensure student safety.
• Assist lead teachers with instruction, lesson activities, classroom management, and transitions.
• Work one-on-one or in small groups with students to reinforce skills, reteach concepts, and support individualized learning plans.
• Help maintain a safe, orderly, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect and engagement.
• Substitute for lead teachers as needed to ensure learning continues uninterrupted.
• Prepare instructional materials, set up classroom resources, and assist with grading or documentation as directed.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to meet students’ academic and social-emotional needs.
• Model professionalism, respect, and high expectations in interactions with students, staff, and families.
