The Paraprofessional assists the teacher in general daily classroom activities, such as helping him/her achieve educational goals, assisting with student behavior issues, providing supervision of students, and ensuring student safety. This role involves supporting the educational and social development of students, maintaining a positive learning environment, and working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team. The paraprofessional will implement individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and Individual Education Plans (IEPs), utilize trauma-informed care principles, and support students' emotional regulation and coping skills. They will also apply de-escalation techniques, facilitate student transitions, and assume responsibility for small group and 1:1 activities to reinforce learning. Additionally, the role includes assisting with instructional and assistive technology, promoting student independence, managing classroom behavior, communicating student progress, collecting data, and assisting with specialized therapies. The position requires completing specific training, maintaining confidentiality, and performing other assigned duties.
