Our Paraprofessionals impact students’ lives by maintaining the safety and development of the students in their care, establishing high expectations for each student and supporting their academic, social, and emotional development. They work closely with the classroom teacher to deliver instruction individually, in small groups, and to support whole-class instruction for more than 50% of the workday. Responsibilities include participating in frequent meetings with parents, teachers, and school leadership, developing educational materials, learning communication techniques, and using student devices. After CPI training, paraprofessionals implement de-escalation techniques when working with students, as required. They also participate in the life of the school, including student activities and events, and embody, advocate, and operationalize the mission, vision, and direction of the school. Other tasks as needed are also part of the role.
