About The Position

Reporting to the Vice-President Legal & General Counsel, the Paralegal supports the Foodtastic legal department by monitoring and coordinating the flow of internal legal requests, assisting in legal matter management, and supporting departmental operations. Working closely with a dynamic team of four lawyers, the Paralegal plays a key role in ensuring efficient handling of legal matters, while upholding strict confidentiality and professionalism.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of experience as a paralegal, law clerk, or contract manager in a law firm or in-house legal department.
  • Legal background with experience in real estate, corporate, or franchising.
  • Law degree from a Canadian or recognized international law school.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Fluent in both English and French (required).
  • Excellent organizational, multitasking, and prioritization abilities to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Experience with legal technology platforms and document management systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in franchising and corporate secretarial functions is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the General Counsel in managing departmental processes, including legal budgeting and invoicing.
  • Develops systems and procedures for administering and tracking legal matters.
  • Manages and maintains legal matter tracker, litigation tracker, and franchise documentation tracker.
  • Coordinates document signatures via DocuSign and prepares initial drafts of correspondence, notices, and other documents.
  • Maintains and organizes all legal files (electronic and physical).
  • Supports implementation and maintenance of virtual minute books and ongoing corporate record-keeping.
  • Assists in the preparation and maintenance of internal corporate documents and regulatory filings.
  • Ensures ongoing corporate maintenance and compliance with internal and external requirements.
  • Supports preparation and organization of annual resolutions and other corporate governance materials.
  • Assists real estate legal team with registration of hypothecs and preparation of lease summaries for franchise disclosure purposes.
  • Supports legal team in preparing and maintaining Franchise Disclosure Documents (FDDs) and Franchise Agreements.
  • Ensures timely and accurate updates to disclosure documentation to meet compliance standards.
  • Conducts basic legal research to assist legal team initiatives.
  • Coordinates intake and follow-up on legal requests across departments using internal platforms and workflows.
