About The Position

Austin Industrial is hiring a Painter Blaster to prepare wood and metal surfaces and paint equipment, parts, machinery, buildings, and other work areas. The role uses spray guns, brushes, and rollers and may include other duties as assigned. Applicants must be legally authorized to work for any employer in the United States; Austin Industrial cannot sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this position.

Requirements

• Three to five years of journeyman-level experience.
• Ability to prepare wood and metal surfaces and paint using a spray gun, brush, and/or roller.
• Ability to work at heights without fear.
• Legally authorized to work for any employer in the United States.
• Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including sitting; using hands to finger, handle, or feel; reaching with hands and arms; standing; walking; climbing or balancing; stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling; talking or hearing; and tasting or smelling.
• Vision abilities including close, distance, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

• Read work orders and receive instructions verbally.
• Prepare surfaces by removing dirt, oil, grease, and old paint; smooth cracks; and fill holes.
• Work at heights.
• Fill cavities and dents with putty to create a smooth surface, as needed.
• Select and mix coating liquids to achieve specified colors using a paddle or mechanical mixer.
• Erect scaffolding or set up a ladder to work above ground level, as needed.
• Apply paint using a spray gun, brush, and/or roller.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
