About The Position

Austin Industrial is hiring a Painter to prepare wood and metal surfaces and paint equipment, parts, machinery, buildings, and other work areas using spray guns, brushes, and rollers. The role involves reading work orders and following verbal instructions, preparing surfaces, mixing coatings to specification, and applying paint. Work may involve heights, scaffolding, ladders, and industrial or construction-site conditions. Other duties may be assigned. Applicants must be legally authorized to work for any employer in the United States; Austin Industries cannot sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this position.

Requirements

• Four years of journeyman-level experience.
• NCCER certification.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Must be legally authorized to work for any employer in the United States.
• Ability to work at heights.
• Ability to read, comprehend, and follow safety procedures, work instructions, and company policies; exercise sound judgment; solve problems; maintain attention to detail; manage stress; and adapt to changing priorities.
• Ability to meet applicable customer, site, regulatory, medical, and fitness-for-duty requirements and wear required personal protective equipment.

Responsibilities

• Read work orders and receive instructions verbally.
• Prepare surfaces by removing dirt, oil, grease, and old paint; smoothing cracks; coating surfaces; and filling holes.
• Fill cavities and dents with putty when needed to create a smooth surface.
• Select and mix coating liquid to produce specified colors using a paddle or mechanical mixer.
• Erect scaffolding or set up a ladder to perform work above ground level when needed.
• Apply paint using a spray gun, brush, and/or roller.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
