Mindrift is conducting an in-person research study exploring how people communicate and interact in everyday group conversations. Adults in the Santa Clara Valley (South Bay) area are invited to participate in a paid, guided conversation session. People from all backgrounds, with different accents and first languages, are welcome; no special experience is needed. Participants check in with an on-site coordinator, then join a small group of 2–4 people for a conversation led by a trained moderator. The conversation covers everyday, non-sensitive topics, such as planning a birthday celebration or making everyday decisions. Each session lasts about 75 minutes and is recorded on video and audio for research purposes. Participation is voluntary and covered by a signed consent form explaining what is involved and how recordings are used and stored. Participants may ask questions at any point or withdraw from the study. Eligible participants must be 18–64 years old, live in or be able to travel to Santa Clara Valley (South Bay), California, be comfortable conversing in English and being recorded, and be available for one in-person weekday session between November 2026 and March 2027. Participants must not have taken part in the study before; each person participates once. Students, working professionals, and people from all walks of life are welcome. Participants receive $110 after completing the session through Mindrift. Travel costs are not covered. To apply, register on Mindrift and complete a short screening questionnaire. Eligible applicants will be invited to book a session time that works for them.
