Mindrift is conducting an in-person research study about how people communicate and interact in everyday group conversations. Adults in the Santa Clara Valley (South Bay) area are invited to take part in a paid, guided conversation session. People from all backgrounds, with different accents and first languages, are welcome; no special or previous experience is needed. Participants check in with an on-site coordinator and join a group of 2–4 people for a conversation led by a trained moderator. Topics are everyday and non-sensitive, such as planning a birthday celebration or making everyday decisions. Each session lasts about 90 minutes and is recorded on video and audio for research purposes. Participation is voluntary and covered by a signed consent form explaining what is involved and how recordings are used and stored. Participants may ask questions and withdraw from the study. Eligible participants must be 18–64, live in or be able to travel to the Santa Clara Valley (South Bay), be comfortable conversing in English and being recorded, and be available for one in-person weekday session between November 2026 and March 2027. Participants must not have taken part in the study before; each person participates once. Applicants register on Mindrift and complete a short screening questionnaire. Those who meet eligibility requirements will be invited to book a session. Compensation is $110, paid through Mindrift after completing the session; travel costs are not covered.
