Mindrift is conducting an in-person research study exploring how people communicate and interact in everyday group conversations. Adults in the Santa Clara Valley (South Bay), California, area are invited to join a paid, guided conversation session. No special experience is needed, and people from all backgrounds, with different accents and first languages, are welcome. Participants check in on site with a coordinator and join a small group of 2–4 people for a conversation led by a trained moderator. Discussion topics are everyday and non-sensitive, such as planning a birthday celebration or making everyday decisions. Each session lasts about 90 minutes and is recorded on video and audio for research purposes. Participation is voluntary and covered by a signed consent form explaining what is involved and how recordings are used and stored. Participants may ask questions at any point and may choose to withdraw. Eligible participants register on Mindrift and complete a short screening questionnaire; those who qualify are invited to book a session. The study runs from November 2026 through March 2027. Participants receive $110 after completing the session; travel costs are not covered.
