About The Position

Chestnut Surgery Center, an AAAHC-accredited ambulatory surgery center affiliated with Urology Associates of Central California, provides outpatient surgical care in urology and ophthalmology. The part-time PACU Registered Nurse joins the perianesthesia team and provides post-anesthesia care to adult and pediatric patients. The position is scheduled three weekdays per week on day shift, with no weekends, holidays, nights, or call.

Requirements

• Current, unrestricted California RN license.
• Minimum 2 years of recent PACU or critical care experience.
• Current BLS and ACLS certification.
• Strong assessment, critical-thinking, and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• Ambulatory surgery center experience.
• Experience with urology and/or ophthalmology patient populations.
• Bilingual.

Responsibilities

• Provide Phase I and Phase II post-anesthesia care to adult and pediatric patients after urologic and ophthalmic procedures.
• Assess, monitor, and manage patients recovering from general anesthesia or MAC.
• Recognize and respond to post-anesthesia complications in coordination with anesthesia and surgical providers.
• Manage pain, PONV, and patient comfort.
• Provide clear, individualized discharge education to patients and caregivers.
• Assist with preoperative admissions and post-operative phone calls as needed.
• Document accurately and on time in the electronic health record.
• Participate in quality improvement, infection prevention, and AAAHC compliance activities.
• Support a culture of safety, teamwork, and exceptional patient experience.
