About The Position

Sweeping Corporation of America (SCA) is seeking an Overnight Street Sweeper to deliver street-sweeping and environmental services that support public safety and environmental quality. The role is based in Shippingport, Pennsylvania, and involves taking ownership of assigned routes, driving a street sweeper, and operating specialized equipment to keep streets clean and well-maintained. The position is on third shift, pays $27 per hour, and offers a $2,500 sign-on bonus subject to conditions. Employees are eligible for a first pay increase after six months. Travel is listed as low (11–25%). The Street Sweeper is responsible for inspecting equipment, reviewing and completing routes, operating equipment safely, handling and disposing of materials appropriately, completing required documentation, and promptly reporting issues and incidents. The role requires professional communication, adaptability, and reliable attendance. Work is conducted outdoors with exposure to weather, traffic, and other stated environmental conditions, and requires use of specialized equipment and appropriate personal protective equipment.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
At least 1 year of DOT driving experience.
CDL-B license.
DOT medical card.
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Must maintain an acceptable driving record and pass a motor vehicle record check, background check, and drug screening in accordance with company policy and applicable law.
Ability to follow safety procedures, conduct inspections, operate equipment responsibly, and comply with traffic, site, and regulatory requirements.
Ability to plan routes, complete work efficiently and accurately, adapt to changing conditions, and maintain dependable attendance.
Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and teammates, represent the company professionally, and promptly report equipment issues, incidents, and safety concerns.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds at varying heights, including overhead.
Ability to use hand controls and foot controls and perform work requiring fine motor skills.
Ability to use required personal protective equipment, including high-visibility apparel and eye, ear, hand, foot, head, lung, and skin protection.

Experience in waste and recycling services is preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform required pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspections and confirm safety features are operational before beginning a route.
Review assigned routes before departure and ask clarifying questions when routes or expectations are unclear.
Complete assigned jobs within the allotted timeframe while meeting quality and attention-to-detail expectations.
Operate equipment safely and efficiently in accordance with traffic laws, company safety procedures, and site-specific protocols; use additional caution in inclement weather or challenging conditions.
Handle materials safely and securely, following appropriate procedures for material types and disposal sites.
Report equipment issues, malfunctions, near misses, crashes, or injuries within 30 minutes or as soon as safely possible.
Immediately escalate opportunities, work issues, and safety concerns to management.
Maintain a professional attitude and appearance on job sites and in public areas, and communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and clients as needed.
Accurately complete required logs, manifests, and forms.
Respond appropriately to changes and challenges and identify and resolve issues in a timely manner.
Report to work consistently, on time, and as scheduled, and adhere to assigned shift start times, breaks, and end times.
