About The Position

Sweeping Corporation of America (SCA) is hiring a full-time Overnight Street Sweeper in Ft. Myers. The role supports SCA’s mission to provide essential sweeping and environmental services that help create cleaner, safer, and more sustainable communities. The Street Sweeper takes ownership of assigned routes, drives a street sweeper, and operates specialized equipment to keep streets clean and well-maintained. The position is on the third shift and pays $20–$21 per hour, with eligibility for a first pay increase at six months. Travel is minimal (1–10%). The role requires a CDL-B and DOT Medical Card, at least one year of DOT driving experience, and a high school diploma or GED. Waste and recycling services experience is preferred. Work is primarily outdoors, with regular exposure to weather, the elements, and traffic. The role includes operating a mechanical broom sweeper and using hand and foot controls, completing inspections and required documentation, and following safety procedures and applicable regulations. Employees must use appropriate personal protective equipment and be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds at varying heights, including overhead.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
At least one year of DOT driving experience.
CDL-B license and DOT Medical Card.
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Must maintain an acceptable driving record and successfully pass an MVR check, background check, and drug screening in accordance with company policy and applicable law.
Ability to follow safety procedures, conduct inspections, operate equipment responsibly, and comply with traffic, site, and regulatory requirements.
Ability to plan routes, complete work efficiently and accurately, adapt to changing conditions, and maintain dependable attendance.
Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and teammates, represent the company professionally, and promptly report equipment issues, incidents, or safety concerns.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds at varying heights, including overhead.
Ability to use specialized equipment, hand controls, foot controls, and fine motor skills.
Ability to perform continuous reading, screen use, mental focus, and hand-eye coordination throughout the workday.
Must use appropriate PPE, including high-visibility apparel and eye, ear, hand, foot, head, lung, and skin protection.

Responsibilities

Perform required pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspections and ensure safety features are operational before starting a route.
Review assigned routes before departure and ask questions when route details or expectations are unclear.
Complete assigned jobs within the allotted timeframe while meeting quality expectations and maintaining attention to detail.
Operate equipment safely and efficiently, following traffic laws, company safety procedures, and site-specific protocols; use extra caution in inclement weather or challenging conditions.
Handle materials safely and securely, using appropriate procedures for material types and disposal sites.
Report equipment issues, malfunctions, near misses, crashes, or injuries within 30 minutes or as soon as safely possible.
Immediately escalate opportunities, work issues, and safety concerns to management.
Maintain a professional attitude and appearance on job sites and in public areas; communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and clients as needed.
Accurately complete required logs, manifests, and forms.
Respond appropriately to changes and challenges and identify and resolve issues in a timely manner.
Consistently report to work on time and as scheduled, remain prepared throughout assigned shifts, and adhere to start times, breaks, and end times.
