About The Position

Sweeping Corporation of America (SCA) is seeking a full-time Street Sweeper in Longwood, Florida. The position works third shift and pays $20–$21 per hour, with eligibility for a first pay increase after six months. Travel is not required. The Street Sweeper owns assigned routes, drives a street sweeper, and operates specialized equipment to help maintain clean streets and support public safety and environmental quality. The role requires safe equipment operation, route preparation and completion, material handling, accurate documentation, professional communication, and prompt reporting of equipment problems and safety incidents. Employees must consistently report to work as scheduled and follow applicable company, traffic, site, and regulatory procedures. Work is performed outdoors with exposure to weather, traffic, and other conditions; the role also requires physical activity, use of PPE, and operation of specialized equipment. Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
At least 1 year of DOT driving experience.
CDL-B license and DOT Medical Card.
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Must maintain an acceptable driving record and successfully pass an MVR check, background check, and drug screening in accordance with company policy and applicable law.
Ability to follow safety procedures, conduct inspections, operate equipment responsibly, and comply with traffic, site, and regulatory requirements.
Ability to plan routes, complete work efficiently and accurately, adapt to changing conditions, and maintain dependable attendance.
Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and teammates, represent the company professionally, and promptly report equipment issues, incidents, or safety concerns.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds at varying heights, including overhead.
Ability to use hand controls and foot controls and perform tasks requiring fine motor skills.
Ability to use required PPE, including high-visibility apparel and eye, ear, hand, foot, head, lung, and skin protection.

Experience in waste and recycling services is preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform required pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspections and verify safety features are operational before starting a route.
Review assigned routes before departure and ask clarifying questions when route details or expectations are unclear.
Complete assigned jobs within the allotted timeframe while maintaining quality and attention to detail.
Operate equipment safely and efficiently, following traffic laws, company safety procedures, and site-specific protocols; use additional caution in inclement weather or challenging conditions.
Handle materials safely and securely, following procedures for material types and disposal sites.
Report equipment issues, malfunctions, near misses, crashes, or injuries within 30 minutes or as soon as safely possible.
Immediately escalate opportunities, work issues, and safety concerns to management.
Maintain a professional attitude and appearance while representing the company at job sites and in public areas.
Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and clients when needed.
Accurately complete required logs, manifests, and forms.
Respond appropriately to changes and challenges and identify and resolve issues in a timely manner.
Maintain regular, predictable attendance and be present and prepared throughout assigned shifts.
