About The Position

The Overnight Stocker is an essential member of Hy-Vee’s overnight crew, keeping store shelves full, organized, and ready for customers. The role involves unloading trucks, rotating and stocking products, tagging shelves, and maintaining an orderly backroom. The position is hands-on and physically demanding, performed primarily during overnight hours, and includes customer service as well as teamwork to support efficient store operations. Training is provided, and prior experience is not required.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Basic math skills, including fractions, decimals, and percentages.
Clear, friendly communication with customers and teammates.
Ability to stay organized and keep pace during a busy overnight shift.
Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing 100 pounds or more, with or without mechanical assistance.
Ability to stand and walk continuously on hard surfaces for extended periods.
Ability to unload, lift, stock, and rotate incoming truck freight and merchandise.
Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen is required for employment.

Responsibilities

Greet customers warmly and provide outstanding customer service.
Help customers find products, reach items, carry heavy purchases, and pass feedback or requests to the team.
Unload trucks, open containers, stock shelves, run overstock on risers, and rotate products to ensure freshness.
Monitor for mis-picked items, product outs, and incorrect deliveries, and report issues.
Organize stock efficiently and clean and restock damaged items.
Tag shelves with overstock in the back room and understock drawers.
Report new or different items to the scanning coordinator for system input.
Work with teammates to support a smooth, efficient overnight operation.
Follow the company dress code, hygiene standards, and policies.
Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as needed.
