Overnight Residential Counselor - Full Time/Part Time
About The Position
The Overnight Residential Counselor is responsible for the safety and supervision of clients at a six-bed residential treatment center serving adolescents. Counselors must remain awake throughout the night shift and help maintain a safe, clean facility through client checks, maintenance and inventory checks, documentation, and participation in treatment team meetings. The role offers training, competitive pay, and opportunities for growth. As an overnight health worker, the counselor could be exposed to COVID or occasionally work with clients who have COVID. Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Must be able to stay awake all night.
- At least 21 years old.
- At least 6–9 months of experience working with teens with mental health or substance abuse needs.
- 6–9 months of experience in an adolescent group home or similar setting.
- Availability for at least one weekend shift in all schedules.
- Ability to pass a LiveScan background check and clear federal and state criminal background checks and child abuse indexes.
- Valid California driver’s license.
- Willingness to interact with COVID-positive clients as needed.
Nice To Haves
- College coursework or a bachelor’s degree.
- Previous overnight shift experience.
- Previous work or volunteer experience with teens or in a group home serving teens or adults.
Responsibilities
- Remain awake, alert, and active throughout the 10 p.m.–6 a.m. night shift.
- Ensure clients are in bed and maintain line of sight of clients at all times.
- Check on clients every 15 minutes.
- Walk through the facility and conduct maintenance checks.
- Assist with inventory checks and notify the facility manager of items needing attention.
- Document all shift activity in KIPU.
- Help maintain the cleanliness of the facility.
- Attend and participate in monthly Treatment Team Meetings.
