About The Position

Evolve Treatment Centers is seeking a Residential Counselor to work at one of its six-bed teen residential treatment centers. The role provides supervision and support to as many as six adolescents receiving 30–60 days of residential treatment for mental health and substance abuse issues. Counselors support clients with daily activities and facilitate groups, with the opportunity to make a significant impact on teens and their families. The position may be suitable for someone interested in pursuing further education in mental health or social services. The ideal candidate is dedicated, flexible, patient, resilient, reliable, able to work as part of a team, and able to maintain appropriate professional boundaries. Residential Counselors are considered critical health workers and may be exposed to COVID or work with clients who have COVID. Evolve follows state and local PPE requirements and maintains safety guidelines. The position is offered full time or part time. All schedules require at least one weekend shift. The stated pay range is $21.00–$27.00 per hour, with a target starting rate of $21.00 per hour. Benefits vary by employment status: some are for full-time hires only, while professional training, certain paid time off, and free meals are available to both full- and part-time hires.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
At least 21 years old.
Work at least one weekend shift on any schedule.
Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries.
Patience, resilience, reliability, flexibility, and ability to work as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

College coursework or a bachelor’s degree.
Experience working with teens.
Experience working in a behavioral healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

Provide one-to-one support and supervision to clients experiencing mental health and substance abuse issues.
Build positive, nurturing relationships with clients while maintaining professional boundaries and following policies and procedures.
Monitor the treatment milieu and maintain awareness of clients’ behavior, activities, and safety.
Participate in activities with clients, including hikes, equine therapy, surf therapy, and fitness groups.
Help create a constructive therapeutic community in accordance with center policies.
Conduct and facilitate psycho-education groups and recreational activities.
Provide crisis management and interventions as needed.
Model appropriate behaviors.
Maintain accurate, detailed documentation of shift activities.
Oversee and participate in mealtimes and help clients with life skills such as laundry, dishes, and making beds.
