About The Position

Curtis Lumber is seeking an experienced, hard-working Overnight Guard for its Ballston Spa location. The role supports company facilities and operations through property and building inspections in a 24-hour-a-day, 7-day-a-week operation. The stated schedule is Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. The Guard monitors safety and security, patrols buildings and grounds, observes vehicles and the propane station, manages access and vendor traffic, responds to emergencies and alarm calls, and records unusual occurrences or equipment issues. Additional duties may include mentoring employees, spot-checking inventory, assisting customers when accompanied, and completing assigned projects.

Responsibilities

Inspect company property and buildings and support facilities and operations.
Identify safety issues and address them or contact the Building Maintenance/Loss Prevention Manager.
During snow or ice events, maintain areas around the Guard Shack, gates, and Corporate Building, as well as a path to the generator.
Observe propane station operations to ensure safe dispensing.
Observe arriving and departing personnel for security and safety reasons.
Observe departing company trucks and vehicles for safety issues.
Periodically patrol buildings and grounds, including at night and during special circumstances in the day.
Record unusual occurrences, property damage, or malfunctioning equipment at night.
Sign out and sign in transfer trucks going to other branches.
Log rail cars in and out.
Monitor video surveillance and obtain still photos or video footage as needed.
Identify and address trespassers as needed, and notify authorities of suspicious or criminal acts.
Address parking issues as needed.
Check in and check out vendor trucks and vehicles and provide directions as needed.
Handle onsite emergencies and provide traffic control when necessary.
Handle emergency phone calls from branches and notify the appropriate departments or management.
Notify EMS, police, or fire services in emergencies.
Take alarm calls from Mahoney and address them as needed.
Assist with incidents when needed.
Mentor fellow employees as needed to support their continued improvement.
Spot-check inventory items when needed.
Assist customers in the seasonal area when not alone.
Check customer propane tanks for expiration and condition when not alone.
Give directions to lost customers and vendors.
Complete assigned projects.
