Overnight Freezer Dairy Clerk Part Time
About The Position
The Dairy & Freezer Clerk maintains the dairy and freezer sections by ensuring proper stocking, rotation, and product integrity. The role supports merchandising, inventory management, and compliance with food safety standards while delivering excellent service to Members. It helps keep the department organized and efficient and contributes to the success of the perishables team. The Clerk supports BJ’s team and Member experience standards, contributes to club goals and financial performance, and performs dairy and freezer operations in accordance with company policies and procedures. The position also provides additional support across departments as needed.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Basic knowledge of cold chain management, food safety standards, and product handling requirements.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and multitasking skills.
- Frequent standing and movement on hard surfaces.
- Regular lifting of up to 30 pounds; occasional heavier lifting with assistance.
- Exposure to temperature variations in refrigerated and freezer storage areas.
- Potential exposure to cleaning agents and frozen or dairy-related allergens.
Nice To Haves
- At least 1 year of experience in dairy, freezer, grocery, or retail operations.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications, including MS Word, Excel, and email.
Responsibilities
- Stock dairy and freezer products according to company planograms.
- Monitor temperature control and support cold chain integrity; replenish low or missing items.
- Rotate products using FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures.
- Inspect products for expiration dates and condition, removing damaged or outdated items.
- Follow food safety and sanitation standards, including routine cleaning of coolers, freezers, equipment, and shelving.
- Monitor in-stock levels and assist with replenishment to maintain a full and shoppable department.
- Verify that items are correctly signed and priced.
- Assist with seasonal transitions and merchandising plans.
- Follow company policies and procedures for dairy and freezer operations.
- Perform other duties and provide additional support across departments as assigned.
- Maintain regular, predictable, full attendance.
- Deliver Member service by engaging helpfully, responding promptly to questions or concerns, and escalating unresolved issues to a supervisor when necessary.
- Demonstrate inclusive, ethical, positive, and solution-oriented behavior and contribute to a safe, collaborative, and encouraging team environment.
- Perform daily responsibilities accurately and consistently to support club goals, performance, and profitability.
- Use supplies responsibly and follow scheduling expectations.
