About The Position

The Overnight Dispatch Coordinator works on-site in Bethel, Pennsylvania, coordinating the timely and safe movement of customer products in compliance with company rules and DOT regulations. The role assigns work to available drivers, monitors product movements, resolves delivery and scheduling issues, and uses Ruan transportation management systems to capture operational data accurately and near real time. This full-time position follows a Sunday-through-Thursday schedule from 10:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. The coordinator is responsible for timely customer-order pickups and deliveries, efficient use of drivers and equipment, driver communication and performance monitoring, service issue resolution, and accurate dispatch records and paperwork. The role also monitors drivers’ hours of service and promotes safety throughout dispatch operations.

Requirements

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
1–2 years of transportation, dispatching, terminal assistant, customer service, or other related experience.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Knowledge of DOT rules and regulations.
Strong working knowledge of dispatch-system technology and Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

Ensure timely pickup and delivery of customer orders within the assigned area while maintaining customer expectations.
Use drivers and equipment efficiently.
Direct and schedule drivers’ work and notify drivers of assignments to support on-time movement and operational efficiency.
Monitor driver activities and performance regularly.
Identify and resolve daily service and scheduling issues, escalating issues to management when appropriate.
Communicate professionally and promptly with customer contacts about issues affecting service and performance.
Monitor drivers’ hours of service to help prevent DOT violations.
Prepare and process operational data and paperwork, including driver activities in computer systems, activity reports and trip documents, hours of service, fuel tickets, and other required items.
Update driver and dispatch information in the dispatch system in real time.
Monitor and promote safety in all areas of dispatch.
