Overnight Custodian
About The Position
The Overnight Custodian is responsible for the overall cleanliness of all areas of the facility to help ensure a positive member experience. The position reports to the Club Manager and is designated full-time or part-time, non-supervisory, and non-exempt. The custodian cleans and sanitizes locker rooms, fitness equipment, and the gym floor; stocks locker rooms with paper products; reports broken amenities or equipment to the Club Manager, Manager in Training, or Team Lead; and promptly turns in lost member property according to the company’s lost-and-found policy. The role also requires customer service, active listening, problem-solving, and tactful communication with members, coworkers, and the public.
Requirements
- Honesty and a good work ethic.
- Ability to stand and walk at least 75% of the shift.
- Ability to reach and feel with hands, fingers, and arms at least 75% of the shift.
- Ability to climb, balance, kneel, and crouch less than 20% of the shift.
- Talking with members and staff less than 30% of the shift.
- Ability to lift over 100 pounds less than 20% of the shift.
- May encounter toxic chemicals less than 30% of the shift.
Responsibilities
- Thoroughly clean and sanitize locker rooms, fitness equipment, and the gym floor.
- Stock locker rooms with the proper paper products.
- Report broken amenities or equipment, including toilets, showers, hair dryers, and gym equipment, to the Club Manager, Manager in Training, or Team Lead.
- Immediately turn in lost member property to the Club Manager, Manager in Training, or Team Lead according to the lost-and-found policy.
- Communicate and interact with customers, coworkers, and the public in a way that exceeds their wants and needs.
- Listen actively, empathize with customers, and work together to solve problems.
- Recognize and define problems, analyze relevant information, consider alternative solutions, and seek assistance when needed.
- Demonstrate tact and skill in interactions while using appropriate behavior and language.
