About The Position

The Outside Plant Technician ensures Verizon’s outside plant facilities are maintained in excellent condition and operate efficiently and reliably. The role involves placing, rearranging, and removing outside plant facilities; connecting wires and cables; interpreting engineering work orders; and performing construction work using designated equipment. The technician also operates company vehicles to transport equipment and works aloft, including climbing ladders and poles and lifting or moving items generally not exceeding 100 pounds. Evening, weekend, holiday, and unscheduled shifts may be required based on business needs. This is an onsite, worksite-based role with 40 scheduled weekly hours.

Requirements

• Valid state driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
• Class A CDL or the ability to obtain a Class A CDL.

Nice To Haves

• A related Associate Degree or two or more years of relevant work experience.
• Completion of the Verizon Technician Program or a similar program covering electrical or lineman training.

Responsibilities

• Place, rearrange, and remove outside plant facilities, including aerial, underground, submarine, buried, block, and house cables, poles, and associated hardware and fixtures.
• Connect wires and cables to terminals and attach or detach hardware to wires, cables, buildings, or poles.
• Read and interpret engineering work orders.
• Perform construction work using designated equipment, such as digging holes and placing poles.
• Operate company motor vehicles of varying gross weights to transport equipment.
• Climb ladders and poles, work aloft, distinguish wire and cable colors, and move or lift items generally not exceeding 100 pounds.
• Work evenings, weekends, holidays, and unscheduled shifts as required by business needs.
