About The Position

The Outside Plant Technician maintains Verizon’s outside plant facilities to ensure they operate efficiently and are prepared for service. The role includes working with outside plant infrastructure and performing construction and field work using designated equipment. This is a worksite-based position performed onsite at defined locations, with 40 scheduled hours per week. Evening, weekend, holiday, and unscheduled shifts may be required based on business needs.

Requirements

• Valid state driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
• Class A CDL or the ability to obtain a Class A CDL.
• Knowledge of outside plant and construction.
• Ability to climb ladders and poles, work aloft, distinguish wire and cable colors, and move or lift items generally not exceeding 100 pounds.

Nice To Haves

• A related associate degree or two or more years of relevant work experience.

Responsibilities

• Place, rearrange, and remove outside plant facilities, including aerial, underground, submarine, buried, block, and house cables, poles, and associated hardware and fixtures.
• Connect wires and cables to terminals and attach or detach hardware to wires, cables, buildings, or poles.
• Read and interpret engineering work orders.
• Perform construction work using designated equipment, including digging holes and placing poles.
• Operate company motor vehicles of varying gross weights to transport equipment.
• Climb ladders and poles and work aloft.
• Perceive differences in wire and cable colors and move or lift items generally not exceeding 100 pounds.
• Work evenings, weekends, holidays, and unscheduled shifts as business needs require.
