About The Position

Reporting to and under general direction of the Director, TRiO Sonoma–Napa Programs (Director), with additional lead work direction from the Assistant Director, TRiO Sonoma-Napa County Programs (Assistant Director), the Outreach Coordinator, Academic Talent Search performs a wide variety of complex Student Services Professional work by providing comprehensive academic advising services to students and is responsible for case management and assisting in the coordination of outreach services (e.g., student recruitment, college placement, school outreach) for ATS Sonoma participants. The incumbent works collaboratively with other ATS advisors, university staff, faculty, and administrators to support the educational experience of the students/participants, as well as perform other activities related to student success and academic advising.

Requirements

  • Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in a related field, including upper division or graduate coursework in counseling techniques, interviewing, and conflict resolution where such are job-related.
  • Equivalent of three years of progressively responsible professional student services work experience.
  • Two years' experience with TRIO, academic support, or similar programs.
  • Two years' experience working with low-income, first-generation minority or disadvantaged students.
  • Intermediate proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
  • Successful completion of a live scan fingerprinting for Sonoma State University.
  • Successful completion of a live scan fingerprinting at the assigned school site location.
  • Successful completion of a TB test.
  • Reside in the State of California upon date of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • A master’s degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or a directly related field.
  • Additional education beyond Bachelor’s Degree and/or certifications and training in areas appropriate to the position.
  • Demonstrated success in overcoming obstacles similar to that of the target population.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency.
  • Knowledge of Google Suite, Student Access, and PeopleSoft.
