About The Position

Franz Family Bakery is hiring a part-time Retail Outlet Associate for its Portland Bakery Location. The associate helps ensure customers have quality products available and provides customer service in a fast-paced retail environment. The successful candidate is reliable, safety-oriented, highly organized, and able to communicate effectively with people inside and outside the organization. Workdays may be Monday through Sunday, and hours will vary according to business needs and the store schedule. A set schedule of days, shifts, and/or weekly hours is determined solely through the seniority process. Employees must join the union upon hire.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED preferred.
Experience with cash-handling processes.
Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment math test, background check, drug screen, and physical.
Strong work ethic and safety orientation.
Ability to maneuver large, bulky racks and regularly lift an average of 25 pounds.
Willingness to perform light accounting duties, inventory counts, and product ordering.
Must join the union upon hire.

Nice To Haves

A solid work history of at least one year at previous jobs is preferred.

Responsibilities

Answer customer inquiries about merchandise and advise customers on merchandise selections.
Itemize and tally merchandise at checkout using a point-of-sale system and administer change accurately.
Take inventory or examine merchandise to identify items for restocking or ordering.
Stock and restock store shelves, racks, cases, and tables with new or transferred merchandise.
Organize merchandise received from depots and prepare products for sale in the store.
Clean display cases, shelves, floors, and aisles.
Perform routine accounting tasks to record daily transactions according to established procedures.
Open the store or secure it upon closure as directed, helping ensure safe store operations.
Support and adhere to Franz Core Values.
Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
