About The Position
The Host is the initial point of contact for guests and helps create a positive experience from the moment they arrive. The role includes greeting, seating, and paging guests, answering questions, directing guests around the venue, and helping create memorable and entertaining experiences. Hosts also support restaurant operations and help maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment. The position’s essential functions are described here, but the description does not encompass every task that may be assigned. The Cafe may cross-train restaurant Hosts and Retail Sales Associates.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Remain calm in a hectic, fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrate strong organization, attention to detail, and a sense of urgency.
- Display a positive and outwardly friendly attitude toward guests and co-workers.
- Ability to move throughout the corporate office and cafes during visits, including standing, walking, kneeling, and bending for extended periods.
- Ability to sit for extended periods.
- Ability to make repetitive movements of the arms, hands, and wrists.
- Ability to express or exchange ideas verbally and perceive sound by ear.
- Manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and ability to work with hands above shoulders.
- Ability to occasionally, regularly, and frequently move objects (lift, push, pull, balance, or carry) up to 10 pounds.
- Ability to turn or twist body parts in a circular motion.
- Ability to tolerate exposure to heat, cold, chemicals, and loud or noisy environments.
- Ability to travel by auto or airplane for long periods of time.
Responsibilities
- Open doors where applicable.
- Welcome guests and thank them.
- Answer guest questions accurately and politely.
- Maintain a clean and organized waiting area.
- Answer the phone.
- Direct guests to areas and restrooms.
- Provide security for co-workers, guests, and celebrities.
- Assist servers, bussers, and managers.
- Perform opening, closing, and side duties, including cleaning glass, polishing brass, sweeping and vacuuming floors, wiping menus, and restroom maintenance.
- Assure the complete satisfaction of each guest.
- Create memorable experiences and entertain guests.
- Maintain a well-groomed appearance and follow uniform guidelines.
- Follow general safety and sanitation standards.
- Recycle products where possible.
- Maintain HRC’s five core values and mission statement.
