Dining Services - Host/Hostess
About The Position
The Host/Hostess helps create a welcoming dining experience for residents and visitors at Live Oak Village. The role requires a caring attitude, an outgoing personality, familiarity with a dining room setting, and the ability to help residents and families feel comfortable. The Host/Hostess must remain diplomatic and calm under all circumstances and be willing to work with geriatric residents. The position includes greeting and seating residents and visitors, serving meals and beverages, preparing and cleaning the dining room, and supporting dish-room operations. It also involves communicating supply needs to the dietary manager and assisting residents with walkers and rollators before and after meals.
Requirements
- Caring attitude and outgoing personality.
- Familiarity with a dining room setting.
- Ability to make residents and families feel comfortable in a dining atmosphere.
- Ability to remain diplomatic and calm under all circumstances.
- Willingness to work with geriatric residents.
- Ability to lift or carry up to 50 pounds occasionally and exert 20 pounds of force frequently.
- Ability to perform physical activities including sitting, walking, standing, carrying, bending, lifting, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
Responsibilities
- Greet residents and visitors in the dining room at meal times.
- Assist residents and visitors with seating.
- Serve meals and beverages, and offer alternate choices or additional servings.
- Set up the dining room before each meal with tablecloths, napkins, silverware, condiments, and other items.
- Keep condiment containers filled and clean.
- Clean the dining area after meal service.
- Wash breakfast dishes and maintain the clean and dirty dish rooms.
- Perform other duties as assigned by a supervisor or administrator.
- Inform the dietary manager about supplies that are needed.
- Remove walkers and rollators during all meals.
- Assist residents with retrieving walkers and rollators after meals.
