About The Position

Genesis Orthopedics & Sports Medicine is seeking a fellowship-trained orthopedic spine surgeon for its Joliet, Illinois practice. The role offers a full case load from day one, support from 1–3 advanced practice providers, shared call, and a partnership-track opportunity with potential equity for a surgeon interested in building the practice. The surgeon will treat the full spectrum of spine conditions and procedures, with access to a coordinated musculoskeletal care platform that includes physical therapy, injections, imaging, pain management, and surgery. Genesis emphasizes exhausting conservative treatment options before recommending surgery, while providing the surgical volume and infrastructure to care for patients when surgery is appropriate. The position also offers access to clinical trials, product development, research, and academic opportunities. Genesis operates 16 clinics across Chicagoland and serves patients across payer types, including Medicaid and private pay.

Requirements

Board-certified or board-eligible in orthopedic surgery.
Fellowship training in spine surgery.
Licensed in Illinois or eligible for Illinois licensure.
Comfort with the full spectrum of spine cases, from decompression to complex reconstruction and primary to revision surgery.
Commitment to conservative care first and to operating when surgery is genuinely indicated.
Ability and interest in coordinating multidisciplinary care for spine patients.

Responsibilities

Evaluate and treat patients across the full spectrum of spine conditions, including cervical, thoracic, and lumbar degenerative disease.
Provide care for disc herniation, radiculopathy, spinal stenosis, trauma, tumors, infections, and spinal deformity.
Perform spine procedures such as decompression, minimally invasive spine surgery, cervical and lumbar fusion, complex reconstruction, revision surgery, motion preservation, and disc replacement.
Exhaust appropriate conservative care options before recommending surgery.
Coordinate care with imaging, physical therapy, pain management, surgical planning, and postoperative rehabilitation.
Participate in clinical trials, product development, research, and academic opportunities.
