About The Position

Genesis Orthopedics & Sports Medicine is hiring a fellowship-trained spine surgeon for its full-spectrum musculoskeletal platform serving Chicagoland. The role offers a high-volume spine patient population and a full case load from day one, supported by 1–3 advanced practice providers (APPs) per surgeon and a coordinated care infrastructure spanning physical therapy, injections, imaging, pain management, surgery, and post-operative rehabilitation. The practice emphasizes exhausting conservative treatment before considering surgery and providing care without regard to patients’ income. The surgeon will treat the full spectrum of spine conditions and procedures, including degenerative disease, disc herniation, stenosis, minimally invasive surgery, fusion, complex reconstruction and revision, deformity, trauma, tumor, infection, and motion-preservation procedures. Opportunities include clinical research and trials, product development, and academic work. The position is partnership-track, with potential for equity for surgeons who contribute to building the practice. Compensation includes a competitive base salary and performance-based incentives.

Requirements

Board-certified or board-eligible in orthopedic surgery.
Fellowship training in spine surgery.
Licensed in Illinois or eligible for Illinois licensure.
Comfort treating the full spectrum of spine cases, from cervical to lumbar and primary to revision, including complex reconstruction.
Commitment to conservative care first and operating when surgery is genuinely indicated.
Ability and interest in coordinating multidisciplinary spine care.
Alignment with serving underserved patients and providing care regardless of income.
Interest in partnership and contributing to building the practice.

Responsibilities

Evaluate and treat patients across the full spectrum of spine conditions.
Provide thorough non-operative workups and pursue conservative care before recommending surgery when clinically appropriate.
Perform spine procedures, including decompression, minimally invasive surgery, fusion, reconstruction, revision surgery, deformity correction, trauma management, and motion-preservation procedures.
Coordinate care with imaging, physical therapy, pain management, surgical planning, and post-operative rehabilitation.
Participate in clinical research, product development, and academic opportunities as desired.
Contribute to building the spine practice with a potential pathway to partnership and equity.
Participate in shared call.
