Orthopedic Spine Surgeon (St. Charles, IL)

Genesis Orthopedics & Sports MedicineSt. Charles, IL
Onsite

About The Position

Genesis was built as the antidote to the systemic challenges that make practicing spine surgery difficult, such as insurance fights, OR access issues, and referral pipelines with misaligned incentives. We are seeking a spine surgeon to practice within a system designed around the patient, not the payer. Genesis is a full-spectrum MSK platform with 16 clinics across Chicagoland, offering services from surgery to physical therapy. Our spine patient population is high-volume, underserved, and in need of comprehensive care. We believe surgery is a last resort, not a revenue strategy, and provide the clinical infrastructure to exhaust conservative care options (physical therapy, injections, imaging, pain management) before resorting to surgery. This role offers a full case load from day one, support from 1-3 APPs, and a partnership-track position with equity potential for surgeons focused on building a practice.

Requirements

  • BC/BE in orthopedic surgery with fellowship training in spine.
  • Licensed in Illinois or eligible.
  • Belief in conservative care first for spine pathology.
  • Technical breadth across cervical to lumbar, decompression to complex reconstruction, primary to revision cases.
  • Ability to think in systems and understand the coordination required for spine patients (imaging, PT, pain management, surgical planning, post-op rehab).
  • Mission alignment with providing care to underserved populations.
  • Desire for equity and partnership, not just a salary.

Responsibilities

  • Perform surgery across the full spine spectrum, including cervical, thoracic, and lumbar degenerative disease.
  • Treat disc herniation and radiculopathy.
  • Perform spinal stenosis and decompression procedures.
  • Conduct minimally invasive spine surgery (MISS).
  • Perform cervical and lumbar fusion using anterior, posterior, and lateral approaches.
  • Undertake complex spinal reconstruction and revision surgery.
  • Manage deformity correction, including scoliosis, kyphosis, and sagittal imbalance.
  • Treat trauma cases, including vertebral fractures, instability, and cord injury.
  • Manage tumors and infections of the spine.
  • Perform motion preservation and disc replacement procedures.
  • Access and utilize Genesis's clinical trial infrastructure.
  • Participate in product development opportunities.
  • Contribute to research that advances spine surgery.
