About The Position
Birmingham Orthodontics in Hoover, Alabama, is seeking a motivated and caring Orthodontic Assistant to support the Orthodontist and help provide high-quality patient care. The assistant performs clinical and technical procedures under the direct supervision of a licensed Orthodontist, prepares patient operatories and equipment, and assists during examinations and orthodontic treatment. The role also includes patient education, accurate treatment documentation, and collaboration with the team throughout the patient’s care journey.
Requirements
- Experience in dental or orthodontic assisting.
- Familiarity with orthodontic appliances, procedures, and terminology.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Orthodontist during examinations and treatments, helping patients feel comfortable and procedures run smoothly.
- Prepare operatories, sterilize equipment, and support clinical workflows.
- Perform orthodontic procedures under direct supervision, including placing and removing wires, coil springs, bands, and retainers.
- Conduct digital scans and assist with fabricating customized appliances and retainers.
- Educate patients about treatment plans, oral hygiene, and appliance care.
- Record treatment notes accurately and collaborate with the team to support patients throughout their care journey.
