About The Position

The Organizational Effectiveness Lead runs the programs that shape how people at Tutor grow, perform, and understand what is expected of them, including the performance cycle, manager development, leveling, 360 feedback, pulse surveys, and values programming. The Head of People sets direction and designs the systems; this role executes them end to end, reliably and on time, and shares insights to help improve each cycle. Tutor is a fast-scaling team of more than 160 people. The company has established a leveling framework, performance philosophy, and company values, and is seeking someone to operate and continually improve these systems. The role requires strong execution, curiosity about how programs work, clear communication, organization, and sound judgment. The position is in-office in Watertown, Massachusetts, and candidates must be based in or willing to relocate to the Boston area.

Requirements

  • 5–7+ years in organizational effectiveness, talent management, learning and development, or an HR business partner role involving responsibility for running programs.
  • Experience running at least one full performance cycle and the ability to discuss what worked, what did not, and what could be changed.
  • Experience delivering manager development, such as workshops, first-time-manager onboarding, or one-on-one coaching.
  • Comfort with data, including interpreting pulse survey or 360 results, identifying meaningful signals, and presenting findings to leadership without over- or under-claiming.
  • Strong facilitation and writing skills, with the ability to make complex topics clear to busy people.
  • Credibility with senior technical leaders and comfort holding them accountable to a process.
  • Willingness to work in a factory or warehouse as needed.
  • Based in or willing to relocate to the Boston area; the role is in-office in Watertown, Massachusetts.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience at a company that scaled through Series B and beyond, especially in deep tech, robotics, hardware, or manufacturing.
  • Experience maintaining or contributing to a leveling or career framework.
  • Academic or applied background in organizational behavior, I/O psychology, or a related field.
  • Experience running values or culture programming, rather than only one-off events.
  • Coaching certification or formal facilitation training.

Responsibilities

  • Run the annual performance cycle end to end, including its timeline, communications, manager enablement, calibration logistics, and delivery of clean outputs to People Ops for compensation, promotions, and title changes.
  • Deliver manager development through new-manager onboarding, workshops, one-on-one coaching, and maintenance of the manager expectations framework.
  • Maintain and extend the Leveling Framework by drafting rubrics for functions that lack them, working with functional leaders, and keeping the framework current as the organization changes.
  • Run values and culture programming after onboarding, and work with Recruiting and People Ops on how values appear in hiring and the first 90 days.
  • Administer and analyze 360 feedback and the monthly pulse survey, and prepare clear readouts for leadership.
  • Support the Head of People with organizational design work, operating-model updates with functional leaders, and broader company culture initiatives.

Benefits

  • Fully employer-covered health insurance.
  • A managed 401(k).
  • Unlimited PTO and federal holidays off for full-time salaried employees.
  • For hourly employees: 16+ days of accrued paid time off and 1.5x pay on federal holidays.
  • Regular in-office meals and team social events throughout the year.
