The Organ Preservation Coordinator is responsible for performing aseptic recovery of various tissues and organs, including eyes, bones, ligaments, tendons, heart valves, saphenous vessels, and skin according to departmental policies and procedures. This role involves coordinating the recovery, preservation, and transportation of donated organs, utilizing appropriate preservation machines and performing in-situ flushes. The coordinator also conducts donor evaluations, manages logistics for recovery teams, and communicates with Medical Examiners, Nursing Supervisors, and Funeral Directors. Ensuring proper packaging of recovered organs and tissues to meet regulatory requirements and maintaining the LifeShare labs with adequate supplies are key aspects of the position. The role requires travel and functioning effectively in various hospital environments, including the ability to fly, ride in ambulances, and use a personal vehicle for work travel.
