New England Donor Services (NEDS) is hiring an experienced ICU RN, Critical Care RN, Trauma Nurse, or Critical Care Respiratory Therapist as an Organ Donation Coordinator. The coordinator responds on-site to organ donor referrals and provides clinical expertise in donor evaluation, donor management, organ allocation, and organ recovery. The role combines clinical and interpersonal skills to educate hospital staff about donation, work with donor families to obtain consent, and coordinate with surgical teams and critical care staff to optimize organs for transplantation. Success requires strong clinical assessment, flexibility, and the ability to remain calm and effective in emotionally charged, clinically complex situations. New hires attend a company-wide, week-long on-site orientation in Waltham, Massachusetts, followed by specialized organ donation training. The Donation Academy includes three days per week in the Waltham office for the first three weeks, generally Tuesday through Thursday on day shift, with additional office training during orientation. After classroom training, new hires participate in a mix of 16-hour day and 12-hour night on-call shifts, averaging 14 shifts per four-week schedule, plus training and meetings. Once independent, the schedule consists of 12-hour night shifts from 8:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m., three shifts per week on a four-week schedule, up to 40 hours per week, plus training and meetings. The position involves significant travel in a personal vehicle to NEDS headquarters in Waltham and hospitals throughout New England. Mileage and other reimbursements are available. Candidates must meet NEDS eligible-driver requirements, including minimum age, acceptable driving record, and required personal automobile insurance. The next cohort is scheduled to start January 4, 2027.
