New England Donor Services (NEDS) is hiring an experienced ICU RN, Critical Care RN, Trauma Nurse, or Critical Care Respiratory Therapist as an Organ Donation Coordinator. The coordinator responds on-site to organ donor referrals and provides clinical expertise in donor evaluation, management, organ allocation, and recovery. The role combines clinical and interpersonal skills to educate hospital staff about donation, obtain consent from donor families, and work with surgical teams and critical care staff to optimize organs for transplantation. It calls for keen clinical assessment, flexibility, compassion, and the ability to remain calm and effective in highly charged, clinically complex situations. New hires complete a week-long company orientation onsite in Waltham, Massachusetts, followed by a specialized organ donation training program. The Donation Academy includes three days per week in the Waltham office for the first three weeks, generally Tuesday through Thursday on day shift, with additional office training throughout orientation. After classroom training, new hires take a mix of 16-hour day and 12-hour night on-call shifts, averaging 14 shifts per four-week schedule, in addition to training and meetings. Once independent, coordinators work 12-hour night shifts from 8:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m., three shifts per week on a four-week schedule, up to 40 hours per week, plus training and meetings. The position involves significant travel throughout New England, including to Waltham headquarters and hospitals, using a personal vehicle. Mileage and other reimbursements are available. The anticipated cohort start date is January 4, 2027; the Donation Academy orientation class is scheduled for January 2027. The listed compensation is $50–$52 per hour.
