After classroom training, new hires participate in 16-hour day on-call shifts. Once independent, coordinators work 16-hour on-call day shifts from 8:00 a.m. to midnight, averaging three shifts per week on a four-week schedule, plus training and meetings. Significant travel throughout New England in a personal vehicle is required; mileage and other reimbursements are available. The position requires travel to the Waltham headquarters and hospitals throughout New England. Candidates must maintain eligible-driver status, including being at least 21 years old, having an acceptable motor vehicle record, and maintaining the required minimum personal automobile insurance. Annual influenza vaccination is required for employees working in a clinical or healthcare environment outside NEDS facilities.
