Requirements

High school diploma.
Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, maintained throughout employment.
Excellent verbal and written communication across audiences, including staff, patients, and physicians.
Strong listening skills and the ability to quickly comprehend instructions from OR staff team members.
Ability to work effectively as a team player.

Responsibilities

Apply sanitary, infection control, and safety standards when preparing and sanitizing surgical instruments.
Handle instruments accurately and safely in accordance with the sterilization process.
Handle sterile processing equipment safely, ensure it is working properly, and escalate equipment malfunctions to the Clinical Manager if unable to resolve them.
Peel-pack supplies and instruments, wrap instruments for sterilization, and inspect instruments for usability, function, completeness, and cleanliness.
Document and maintain accurate sterilization records.
Perform simple equipment maintenance, such as cleaning filters and drains.
Prepare trays for designated areas according to policies and procedures.
Document and maintain an inventory of supplies and materials.
