About The Position
Southern Illinois Eye Care is seeking a detail-oriented, patient-focused Optometric Technician to support optometrists and help provide a high-quality patient experience. The position is based at 630 S Washington Street in Du Quoin, Illinois. Optical or optometric experience is welcome but not required; training is provided. The role offers opportunities to build clinical skills and explore leadership opportunities in a collaborative, supportive practice.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of customer service experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong multitasking and organizational abilities in a fast-paced setting.
- A team-oriented approach, growth mindset, and eagerness to learn.
- Attention to detail and accuracy when documenting patient information.
- Flexibility and a proactive attitude toward supporting team success.

Responsibilities
- Support optometrists by performing pre-screening tests and assisting with exams.
- Collect patient medical histories and explain vision benefits.
- Train patients on contact lens use and care.
- Verify insurance and schedule appointments.
- Maintain smooth communication and help coordinate patient flow.
- Collaborate with the team to meet goals and deliver exceptional care.
