About The Position

The Optometric Technician provides clinical support to the Doctor of Optometry (OD) to improve exam efficiency and patient satisfaction. The position reports to the Professional Services Department. The technician prepares the clinic day, performs clinical testing and procedures within their knowledge, and hands off patient care to the OD.

Responsibilities

• Assist in improving exam efficiency and elevating the patient experience.
• Communicate with retail office management and staff.
• Prepare for the clinic day and maintain strong organization.
• Perform refraction.
• Review case history, including current medical conditions.
• Perform non-contact tonometry, auto-refraction, visual acuity testing, blood pressure measurement, lensometry, visual field testing, fundus photography, and OCT testing.
• Instill eye drops.
• Perform additional clinical procedures requested by the supervising OD that fall within the technician’s scope of knowledge.
• Hand off patient care to the OD.
