About The Position

An Optical Technician achieves a world-class Total Patient Experience by maximizing retail sales while supporting patients’ medical needs. The role involves dispensing and fitting glasses and contact lenses based on prescriptions written by optometrists and ophthalmologists, and connecting patients’ needs with the goods and services offered. The position is with EyeCare Partners, a clinically integrated eye care provider.

Requirements

At least 1 year of experience in a position interacting with customers or patients, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
High school diploma or GED.
Favorable result on a background check as required by state.
Proof of identity and authorization to work in the United States.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Ability to meet the physical requirements of the role, including lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling items up to 25 lbs; fine motor skills and full use of hands; and visual and auditory acuity.

Nice To Haves

Previous medical office experience preferred; previous ophthalmic experience strongly preferred.
ABO and NCLE certifications preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

Build relationships with patients and provide medical support while delivering the Total Patient Experience.
Determine patients’ wants and needs and recommend or sell products and services to exceed their expectations.
Help patients select frames based on style, color, facial and eye measurements, and optical prescriptions.
Operate auto-lensometers and manual lensometers.
Educate patients about and recommend lenses, lens coatings, and frames suited to their needs.
Accurately collect optical measurements, including bridge, eye size, temple length, segment heights, vertex distance, pupillary distance, and pantoscopic tilt.
Dispense patient orders and repair or adjust frames.
Dispense glasses and contact lens orders using current processes.
