About The Position

Boscov’s is hiring a non-licensed Optical Associate to join its Optical team. The associate advises and assists adult and child customers with lenses and spectacle frames, provides service in person and by phone, and supports order fulfillment and daily department operations. The role includes verifying prescriptions, processing sales, maintaining customer confidentiality and HIPAA compliance, and keeping the optical department clean, organized, and professional.

Requirements

• One year of optical experience.
• One year of experience working in a retail store.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Ability to prioritize.
• Ability to work as a team member.
• Strong sense of fashion and trends.
• The position is active and involves moving about throughout the department during the shift.

Responsibilities

• Verify prescription orders by comparing system entries with the prescribing doctor's original prescription, and maintain organized order files according to store procedures.
• Assist customers in person and by phone, explain products and services, and provide a welcoming, professional customer experience.
• Help customers select frames appropriate for their prescription requirements and verify prescriptions using a lensometer.
• Update order statuses during fulfillment, notify customers when orders are ready, and process sales and payment transactions.
• Follow company policies, confidentiality standards, and HIPAA regulations to protect customer information.
• Assist the Optical Manager with opening and closing procedures, cash reconciliation, and accurate point-of-sale transactions.
• Build positive working relationships with store leadership and associates to support a collaborative, customer-focused environment.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and professional optical department.
