About The Position

West Virginia University School of Medicine, Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences is seeking an Ophthalmologist to join their practice in Wheeling, WV. The role involves practicing comprehensive ophthalmology and teaching allied health professionals. The West Virginia University Health System is the state's largest health system and largest private employer, comprising 18 hospitals and multiple institutes. Wheeling Hospital, founded in 1850, serves the Northern Panhandle of West Virginia, Eastern Ohio, and parts of Pennsylvania, with 247 beds and a medical staff of 230 physicians. The complex includes the Continuous Care Center, Wheeling Renal Care, and the Howard Long Wellness Center, along with four connected medical office buildings. Wheeling Hospital's Center for Pediatrics offers comprehensive healthcare for children and adolescents with a team of over 200 professionals.

Requirements

  • MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent.
  • Eligible to obtain a state medical license.
  • Completed an accredited ophthalmology residency program.
  • Board certified/eligible in ophthalmology.

  • For appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor rank, a demonstrated track-record of leadership, excellent communication skills, and publications in high-impact journals are required.
