About The Position

SW Florida Eye Care is seeking a skilled and dedicated Ophthalmic Technician to join its team in Fort Myers, Florida. The technician assists ophthalmologists and optometrists with technical and clinical tasks that support efficient patient care and accurate diagnostic testing.

Requirements

• Proven experience as an Ophthalmic Technician or in a similar role.
• Knowledge of ophthalmic instruments and diagnostic procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

• Certification as an Ophthalmic Technician (COT) is preferred but not required.
• Additional certification or training in ophthalmic technology is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct preliminary eye exams and diagnostic tests, including visual acuity, visual fields, and tonometry.
• Prepare patients for examinations by explaining procedures and answering questions.
• Assist providers during patient examinations and minor procedures.
• Maintain and operate ophthalmic equipment, ensuring it is properly calibrated and clean.
• Record patient medical histories and accurately document examination results.
• Schedule patient appointments and manage patient flow.
• Follow safety and infection-control protocols.
• Collaborate with the clinical team to provide patient care and support.
