About The Position

The Machine Operator I works under the supervision of the Production Supervisor and may perform several production jobs, including water treatment, tile sorting, operating a strapping machine, and kiln exit operations. The role involves following safety policies and procedures, maintaining regular attendance and timeliness, and providing scheduling flexibility. The operator cleans equipment and work areas daily, reports identified problems to a supervisor or lead person, and performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Basic mathematical skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
• Ability to read, comprehend, and follow simple instructions.
• Six months to one year of color or tile manufacturing experience.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and efficiently multitask.
• Ability to perform repetitive movements.
• Ability to lift, move, or transport items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to move or traverse throughout the facilities.

Nice To Haves

• Six months of forklift driving experience is desired.

Responsibilities

• Comply with Westlake safety policies and procedures.
• Maintain regular attendance and timeliness and provide scheduling flexibility.
• Treat process water by adding flocculent to disperse solids, check pH before discharging water to the city, follow SOPs, and record daily discharges with supervisor approval.
• Inspect tile on the dry side and take responsibility for the sealer area, including cleaning the sealer booth.
• Operate the strapping machine to secure pallets of tile.
• Perform tile quality checks and package tile at the kiln exit.
• Clean equipment and work areas daily.
• Notify a supervisor or lead person when problems are identified.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
