About The Position

As an Operations Team Member at North Star BlueScope Steel, you will help turn raw materials into hot-rolled band steel while maintaining safety and quality standards. Work may be in raw-material handling or involve melting, casting, and rolling. You will work toward daily production goals, meet quality standards, support efficiency and continuous improvement, and follow safety, housekeeping, setup, and environmental-compliance policies around heavy equipment and machinery. The role requires working in non-temperature-controlled plant environments and wearing safety glasses, a long-sleeve fire-retardant shirt, earplugs, and metatarsal boots.

The rotating schedule consists of 12-hour shifts from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for three or four days per week for four weeks, followed by 12-hour shifts from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. for three or four days per week for four weeks, then a return to day shifts. Weekly hours alternate between 48 and 36, with three or four days off each week. First-year total compensation is guaranteed to be at least $50,000. The role offers a $2,000 sign-on bonus, medical, dental, and vision insurance starting on the first day of employment, skill-based pay increases, company retirement contributions, and access to a free 24/7 onsite fitness center.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States on an unlimited basis; sponsorship is not available.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Ability to work in non-temperature-controlled environments and bend, stoop, reach, lift, climb stairs, and stand or walk for long periods.
• Wear safety glasses, a long-sleeve fire-retardant shirt, earplugs, and metatarsal boots while in the plant.
