About The Position

Within a division, the Operations Supervisor – Hauling Operations supervises collection activities in one or more lines of business, including commercial, residential, roll-off (industrial), and/or container delivery and pickup, across a geographically dispersed area. The supervisor oversees drivers and helpers and works with the Operations Manager and General Manager to implement tactical initiatives that promote functional excellence and achieve budget goals. The role ensures adherence to accident-prevention programs and leads operations in compliance with safety, environmental, operating, regulatory, accounting, ethics, and other standards. It is responsible for executing and delivering safety, customer experience, and efficiency while supporting employee engagement. The supervisor also performs other job-related duties as needed or assigned.

Requirements

At least 1 year of lead or supervisory experience.
Ability to direct a large staff.

Responsibilities

Provide leadership toward safety goals and objectives, communicate about them, and work to remove unsafe conditions from drivers’ routes and new customer routes.
Partner with sales to identify and eliminate unsafe conditions for new routes or customers, and with maintenance to keep equipment operational and compliant with safety standards.
Oversee safety and accident-prevention programs, maintain a safe and productive work environment, and implement and maintain an effective loss-control and safety program.
Engage employees in safety through personal commitment, outreach, and active participation.
Deliver customer service that meets or exceeds expectations; understand and meet missed-pickup goals.
Resolve unusual service requests, equipment breakdowns, and schedule changes through timely communication with stakeholders.
Work with customers to resolve issues and improve their overall experience; represent the company positively to support satisfaction and loyalty.
Establish productivity goals as needed, ensure adherence to operating standards, and manage labor hours and disposal expenses according to agreed plans.
Lead drivers to exceed productivity goals and expectations across routes.
Create, modify, and improve routes to increase density and efficiency; reduce route hours where possible through techniques such as service conversions and container upsizing.
Execute operational plans to help achieve or exceed division budget goals.
Support service delivery, maintenance, and the operational role in fleet quality and maintenance.
Create a collaborative and communicative team environment and promote employee engagement.
Develop team talent, understand employees’ career goals, and coach them for advancement within the company.
Perform other job-related duties as needed or assigned.
