About The Position
Operations Specialist I performs professional and analytical work requiring regular independent judgment in applying management principles and techniques to improve operational activities in accordance with agency laws and policies. The position is associated with Victim Services Coordinator in the Baltimore Police Department. Candidates must have an associate’s degree and five years of experience performing complex analytical support for an operational, technical, or administrative function. The role requires knowledge of English usage, research methods, and moderately complex analytical techniques, along with the ability to prepare reports, organize and analyze data, communicate information clearly, and maintain working relationships with coworkers and the public. Selected Baltimore City Police Department employees must complete a mandatory one-year probation. Candidates under final consideration must authorize the release of criminal conviction information. Qualified candidates may be considered for vacancies as they arise for at least six months.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Five years of experience performing complex analytical support for an operational, technical, or administrative function.
- Thorough knowledge of English usage.
- Thorough knowledge of reference and research methods and techniques used to collect, compile, and organize data.
- Thorough knowledge of moderately complex analytical principles and techniques.
- Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with coworkers and the general public.
- Education obtained outside the United States must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency.
Responsibilities

- Collect, compile, edit, classify, and tabulate statistical and qualitative data.
- Prepare and present reports.
- Explain the agency’s purpose, programs, and operations.
- Present ideas and information clearly and concisely.
