About The Position

The Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD) works in partnership with local communities to support people with developmental disabilities in living, learning, and working in their communities. APD provides critical services and support for customers with developmental disabilities to reach their full potential. The Agency serves people with spina bifida, autism, Down syndrome, children ages 3-5 at high risk of developmental disabilities, cerebral palsy, Prader-Willi syndrome, Phelan-McDermid syndrome, and intellectual disabilities. There is no charge or co-payment for services provided through the Agency. This position is required to work in assigned office or headquarters. This position is not eligible for telework. Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have at least three (3) years of supervisor/management experience.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License.
  • If hired with an out-of-state license a valid Florida State driver’s license must be obtained within 30 days.
  • Corrective Lenses Restricted license is acceptable provided the driver wears the corrective lenses while operating a state vehicle.
  • Must be willing to perform essential services before, during, and after an emergency.
  • Must be willing to work beyond the normal work schedule to maintain minimum coverage levels and meet the needs of the Agency.
  • Must demonstrate total commitment to outstanding customer service.
  • Male candidates born on or after October 1, 1962, must be registered with the Selective Service System (SSS) before their 26th birthday, or have a Letter of Registration Exemption from the SSS.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring that the facility has enough direct care professionals to manage and monitor residents in the Tacachale residential community.
  • Serving as the initial point of contact for any administrative requests and provides oversight after hours, on weekends, and holidays.
  • Working as a resource and crisis manager in collaboration with the Officer of the Day.
  • Performing administrative and consultative work in the identification and resolution of operational or management problems within the residential community of Tacachale during after-hours, weekends, and holidays.
  • Responding to and taking the lead in managing all incidents involving residents and staff, including taking statements and rearranging staffing to resolve conflicts and/or potential problems.
  • Composing reports that may be used by Employee Relations to address or correct employees.
  • Taking the lead role in assembling and disseminating incident report packets to the appropriate personnel for review on the next business day.
  • Validating that staffing schedules are balanced and adequate in all areas utilized by residents and staff, including temporary reassignment of staff to provide coverage, ensure safety standards are met, and active treatment is ongoing.
  • Verifying that respectful interactions between all individuals are evident and that the supervision and care of the residents is continuous.
  • Conducting onsite observations of residential living areas, worksites and activity areas.
  • Conferring with staff and management to identify problems and offer suggestions for improvement.
  • Working in conjunction with management in formulating policies that affect employees, some of whom are bargaining unit employees.
  • Ensuring staff are compliant with performing duties in accordance with policies and procedures while maintaining high visibility in areas to be monitored.
  • Preparing and submitting monitoring reports of findings to facility management and supervisors within 24 hours of monitoring.
  • Preparing and submitting reports containing time sensitive or critical information to the recipients on the next business day.
  • Providing daily consultation and assistance to management and staff in the day-to-day operation of service programs and responsibilities.
  • Performing on-site analysis of operational problems of service programs and provide results to supervisor and/or facility management.
  • Conducting coaching, training and in-services for direct care staff.
  • Assisting with special projects as required.
