Operations Manager
About The Position
Morgan Advanced Materials is a world leader in advanced materials science and engineering, producing ceramics, carbon, and composites. Its Thermal Ceramics division designs, manufactures, and installs thermal insulation products for high-temperature processing applications across industrial and commercial markets. The Operations Manager is a hands-on leadership role at a manufacturing site, responsible for the day-to-day operation across EHS, quality, supply chain, and operational excellence. The role balances production demands with safety, quality, and cost requirements, and has responsibility for developing the leadership team, maintaining operational standards, and ensuring compliance with company and regulatory requirements. The position sits just below the Regional Site Manager. The role requires eligibility to work under ITAR/EAR/NRC regulations (U.S. citizenship, permanent residency, or protected status).
Requirements
- Solid experience leading in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- At least 3 years of team management experience and 5 or more years of overall manufacturing experience.
- A track record of improving operations.
- Strong understanding of safety, quality, and operational standards.
- Experience working in fast-paced environments where priorities shift.
- Confidence communicating with shop-floor employees and senior leadership.
- A practical, hands-on leadership style.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Comfort working with data, reports, and performance metrics.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Eligibility to work under ITAR/EAR/NRC regulations (U.S. citizenship, permanent residency, or protected status).
Nice To Haves
- Engineering degree, such as mechanical, chemical, or industrial engineering.
- Lean manufacturing or Operational Excellence experience.
- Experience in highly regulated environments, such as ITAR, EAR, or NRC.
Responsibilities
- Run site operations across safety, quality, supply chain, and production.
- Drive efficiency, productivity, and output across manufacturing processes.
- Manage budgets and keep spending within agreed limits.
- Plan and adjust production schedules to accommodate changing demand.
- Lead, hire, and develop the management team.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety, environmental, and internal policies.
- Roll out and embed Lean and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Monitor performance metrics and take action where needed.
- Work cross-functionally to align operations with business objectives.
- Lead employee engagement, performance, and development.
- Support ISO management reviews and maintain audit readiness.
