Operations Manager - Supply

Snorkel AI•San Francisco, CA
•$130,000 - $170,000

About The Position

The Operations Manager – Supply serves as the Supply DRI for one or more specialized expert domains and their pods. The role is accountable for ensuring the right experts are available, allocated, and productive when projects need them. Domain ownership depends on customer demand and may shift as the portfolio changes. The position owns the middle of the expert contributor (EC) funnel, from onboarding through project assignment. This includes staffing plans for projects, allocating qualified ECs, maintaining a vetted bench ahead of demand, and balancing speed with quality of match. The manager partners upstream with acquisition and recruiting, downstream with Delivery and Expert Experience, and also works closely with BPO partners and analytics. The role combines planning and execution, with a focus on meeting staffing targets, improving supply speed and assignment outcomes, and making supply processes repeatable through SOPs and automation. Snorkel AI offers the opportunity to shape priorities, influence strategic decisions, and develop skills across functions in a rapidly scaling company.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of experience in supply operations, workforce or staffing operations, marketplace operations, or a comparable role in a fast-moving environment.
  • Experience sourcing, allocating, or managing specialized talent pools and making trade-off decisions when demand exceeds supply.
  • Comfort working with data; ability to retrieve data using SQL or a BI tool.
  • Experience using a system of record such as Airtable, Salesforce, or a similar platform beyond basic logging.
  • Experience building capacity plans or forecasts, including scenario planning for uncertain demand signals.
  • A track record of structuring ambiguous processes by writing SOPs, driving adoption, and improving processes after implementation.
  • Strong cross-functional communication skills for aligning Delivery, recruiting, and external partners with differing priorities.
  • High ownership, a bias toward action, and judgment about when to escalate decisions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with credentialed or highly specialized professionals, such as engineers, clinicians, researchers, or attorneys.
  • Familiarity with credentialing, licensure verification, or handling regulated data.
  • Experience with AI training data, annotation, or expert-in-the-loop work.

Responsibilities

  • Build staffing plans for each project in owned domains, including role mix, peak targets, ramp timing, and source mix; flag gaps to Delivery before projects peak.
  • Maintain a pre-vetted expert bench in each domain sized against forecast demand.
  • Redeploy experts from ending projects before sourcing new experts.
  • Allocate experts based on credentials, domain fit, and past performance, balancing speed with quality of match.
  • Work with Delivery to identify factors that drive high-quality, high-acceptance work and incorporate them into vetting and matching.
  • Monitor project staffing targets, supply arrival speed, the number of allocated experts assigned to projects, and the time it takes new experts to find work; investigate and address performance shortfalls.
  • Act as the single point of contact for pod leadership, translate shifting priorities into supply actions, and escalate constraints early with options.
  • Partner with acquisition and recruiting to grow supply for assigned domains.
  • Work with Delivery to activate ECs on new projects and with the Expert Experience team to keep top experts engaged.
  • Work with BPO partners and analytics.
  • Develop SOPs and help automate them so processes scale across domains.
