About The Position

Operations Manager Trainees manage communications and inventory replenishment for approximately 60 stores and $100–120 million worth of inventory. The role involves analyzing reports and responding to results to keep stores adequately stocked while staying under budget. The position is based in Eighty-Four, Pennsylvania, near Washington, Pennsylvania. Training includes 4–12 weeks working at an 84 Lumber store near the trainee’s home to develop product knowledge and experience with store operations.

Requirements

• Ability to read and comprehend documents such as policy and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak or present in front of a small group.
• Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Computer skills in spreadsheet and internet software, and word processing.

Responsibilities

• Understand the culture, ethics, and history of 84 Lumber.
• Analyze and monitor store inventory levels.
• Work to lower inventory levels and build relationships with store associates and buyers.
• Review stock orders to help maintain safe and accurate inventory levels across the territory and prevent stores from over- or under-ordering materials.
• Review replenishment reports and recommend potential order needs.
• Trace late purchase orders to determine delivery status.
• Coordinate material transfers between stores to help eliminate dormant inventory.
• Meet with other departments to better understand promotion opportunities.
• Complete 4–12 weeks of training at an 84 Lumber store near the trainee’s home to gain product knowledge and store operations experience.
